Let me clear some things right here:

All i asked Brooks is to be more precise, what his goal is.

If you can't give a solution he asked for, why on earth did YOU post / answer him ?

I for one, gave him the idea to use a component for his problem, which might sound like
a workaround, but a component is able to draw it's contents, use livepreview, and it's easy to use.
Maybe not so easy as if you just click one command, but you could slighten the use for it,
if you would use a jsfl command for placing the component on stage, set a linkage id for you pics / clips etc .pp.

But it is a solution, and can be done. Your solution is to say 'it won't work - no way', so could you please tell me 
which way sounds better to you?
