You are right - it is a hack! :) I was simply suggesting it as a
"better-than-nothing" workaround. And yes, that feature probably could
and should have been implemented for JSFL.write() but the idea wasn't
suggested until now, and sadly it's too late to make it in for Flash 8.

That sounds like a hack :/
But why isn't the FLfile.write extended with a similar flag - it would
be so easy, it would seem. And as it is an external plugin, it could
quite easily be added and distributed - even outside the scope of 8-ball
(assuming that the JSFL plugin API hasn't changed).
